Alrosa, the second largest rough diamond distributor, will for the first time begin selling rough diamonds directly from its Israel office. "There is no doubt that the participation of Alrosa into the business activity of the Israeli Diamond Exchange, will strengthen the Israeli diamond industry and represents a vote of confidence to the Israeli industry," said Avi Paz, President of the Israel Diamond Exchange. Alrosa will launch the first sale of rough diamonds in Israel on January 24 at a total volume of $4 million. From next week, Alrosa rough diamonds, will come into Israel on a regular monthly basis. The Russian diamond distributor generates an annual diamond output of more than $3 billion.
