Channel 10 franchise extended 4 years

The Knesset economics committee gave its approval to extend Channel 10's franchise for four years in a second and third reading of the committee on Monday. The decision gives Channel 10 broadcasting rights until 2014, the economics committee said in a statement, provided that the channel fulfills its production obligations in the next two years. The committee also gave its approval for the rescheduling of the company's debt, giving it until 2010 to pay unmet obligations from 2004 and 2005. The committee stressed that the structure of payments did not apply to future debts accrued in 2006 and 2007, as the original law had included next year in the structure.
