Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer is reportedly off the list of candidates to replace Paul Wolfowitz as president of the World Bank.

Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer is reportedly off the list of candidates to replace Paul Wolfowitz as president of the World Bank. Fischer, a former vice president of development economics and chief economist at the World Bank, had been mentioned as a possible successor to Wolfowitz, who resigned earlier this month amid a scandal involving a promotion for his girlfriend. Current lead contenders for the position reportedly are US Trade Representative Robert Zoellick and Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, Robert Kimmitt.
