Local biz prefers younger workers

The report from Jobby comes after last week's comments by Elisra CEO Itzchak Gat, who at a meeting with younger employees, allegedly told the group he wanted to see black-haired employees not white-haired ones.

Israeli business managers prefer hiring younger workers as, on average, job seekers between the ages of 20-40 need only 42 days to find a job, while those aged 40 and above require 219 days to find employment, the job search Web site www.jobby.co.il reported on Sunday. The report from Jobby comes after last week's comments by Elisra CEO Itzchak Gat, who at a meeting with younger employees, allegedly told the group he wanted to see black-haired employees not white-haired ones. Elisra is a subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd. His comments angered older employees, who are the majority at Elisra.
