Techwatch: Matrix expands partnership with Red Hat

Werner Knoblich, senior vice president of sales for Red Hat's Europe, Middle East and Africa region, was in Israel last week for the announcement of the company's expansion of its JBoss software to new customers in the Israeli market, including BMC Software, Mifal Hapayis and Harel Insurance. JBoss Enterprise Middleware is an enterprise-class open source software to build, deploy, integrate, orchestrate and present Web applications and services in a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). While in the country, Knoblich met with senior representatives from the IT company Matrix, the main distributor of Red Hat's Enterprise Linux solutions and services in the Israeli market. Red Hat, a publicly traded company that did $400 million in sales last year, and the Herzliya-based Matrix began their partnership some four years ago, and today, boast a customer base that includes Comverse, Nokia, Partner, NDS, the Defense Ministry, Cisco and the Israeli Defense Forces. Red Hat, the world's leading open source solutions provider, is headquartered in Raleigh, NC, with over 50 satellite offices spanning the globe. CIOs have ranked Red Hat first for value in Enterprise Software for three consecutive years in the CIO Insight Magazine Vendor Value study. Red Hat provides high-quality, low-cost technology with its operating system platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, together with applications, management and SOA solutions. Matrix, the only authorized Red Hat distributor in Israel, is one of the most advanced information technology companies in the country. Matrix implements integration projects which are among the largest in the market, develops and markets software technologies and products for business systems, provides infrastructure and consulting services, carries out outsourcing contracts, training and assimilation and imports, represents and markets the world's leading software products, hardware solutions and IT infrastructures. Jacada Ltd., a leading provider of unified desktop and process optimization solutions for customer service operations, has entered into a material agreement with Harrah's Operating Company, Inc. Revenue from the contract will be recognized in future quarters. Using the Herzliya-based Jacada's unified service desktop, Harrah's customer service agents will be able to provide customers an enhanced service experience by providing a more comprehensive and timely view of available properties and services. Using the non-invasive application integration capabilities of the Jacada solution, the new unified service desktop will be delivered without having to modify or replace any of the existing business systems. Tel Aviv-based Infinity fund management group said that its Infinity I Fund and the Annex Fund, as well as Shellcase, an Infinity portfolio company, have collectively sold shares of Xintec for $12 million. The Xintec shares were purchased by the group in December 2004 for $2.2m. Xintec, headquartered in Taiwan, is a licensee of Shellcase in the Asia Pacific Region and provides Wafer Level Chip Size Packaging, IC packaging and a wide range of manufacturing services to the global market. Alvarion Ltd. has announced a collaboration with KDDI to bridge the digital divide in Cambodia and Vietnam. KDDI promotes telecommunications and information and communications technology services via its own specific activities, and also participates in the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organization. APT's main goal is to reduce digital divide and promote advanced services including Internet access, E-learning, E-Government, E-Commerce, and more as part of the pan-Asia initiative. KDDI is using Tel Aviv-based Alvarion's solutions in Vietnam and Cambodia, to improve broadband data services to residents, schools and municipalities. Alvarion is supporting KDDI and working together to tailor solutions that are optimized for local requirements.
