Israeli industry has so far remained unaffected by worker absenteeism due to World Cup fever, according to a survey carried out by the Manufacturers Association of Israel. Most factories reported no absenteeism from employees who wanted to see the games, the study found. In addition, very few requests were made to management to leave work early in order to watch the matches. The schedule of the World Cup sees the earliest games start at 4 p.m. (local time) and this no doubt has helped keep absences low.
