The first direct flights between Kazakhstan and Israel will begin on June 28, the Kazakh Embassy announced this week. Direct flights between the two countries were expected to help increase trade and tourist volume between the two countries. Currently, tourists must travel through a third country to reach their destinations, resulting in a one-way travel time of up to 20 hours. Private Kazakh air carrier Sayakhat will offer the five-hour flight from Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, to Tel Aviv each Thursday, but plans to add a second weekly flight by the fall.
