Kadima council ratifies Labor proposal - primaries to be held in Sept.

Despite a scant voter turnout, the Kadima council voted on Thursday to ratify the party's agreement with Labor, which requires Kadima to hold a leadership primary between September 14-18. However, due to the member turnout at the meeting, the party's constitution was not amended to state that the winner of the primary would also be the Kadima candidate in the next general elections. Accordingly, those decided that a secret-ballot election would be held within the next ten days among the 180 members of the Kadima council. Ninety-one members must vote in favor of the amendment in order to change the party's constitution.
