The first week of the High School American Football in Israel League (HSAFI) showcased some high octane offenses and stingy defenses. Six out of the seven HSAFI teams were in action with all the victors winning by at least several touchdowns. Over 100 fans were in attendance, braving a chilly Jerusalem night to see some of Israel's finest high school football players in action. Chashmo Jaguars 40, Dominators 6 The Jaguars' Avi Ettinger intercepted three passes, running two back for touchdowns, while Jags QB Yoni Schwartz threw four touchdown passes. The dominators had two interceptions on the night, but could only convert those turnovers into one touchdown. Buckeyes 51, Oasis Management 7 Bucs captain and quarterback Jason Chernofsky led his team with six touchdown passes to four different receivers. On defense, Lior Sacks ran an interception back for a tuouchdown and registered two sacks. But Daniel Shnall was the game MVP with three picks, running one back for a score. Thunderbolts 30, Bulldogs 12 Veteran QB Binyamin Teitz threw three touchdown passes and ran the length of the field for a fourth. Yonatan Halberstat caught two TD passes. Fan favorite Amram Sherby registered one sack, and made a diving catch for a first down which was by far the play of the week. Sherby was shaken up but returned to pressure the Bulldogs QB all night long.
