Violence escalated between terrorist groups in Gaza and the IDF starting Friday and continuing through Sunday. Islamic Jihad and the Popular Resistance Committees have taken credit for firing over 110 rockets from Gaza into southern Israel. Israel killed a group of terrorists on Friday who the IDF said had previously carried out and were planning to carry out terror attacks against Israel from Egypt.
Subsequent to the Israeli air strike, terrorist groups escalated the pace of rocket attacks and over 200,000 Israeli school children have been forced into bomb shelters and other safe areas. During the latest escalation, Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system has had an over 90 percent success rate in intercepting rockets from Gaza.
