US, Aussie police to visit Israel counter-terror program

Group will visit the sites of 16 terrorist attacks and hear about how the Israel Police responds to mass casualty incidents.

A delegation of senior police and military officials from the US and Australia will visit Israel in October to take part in a counterterrorism program.
The group, which will include a criminal law professor, will visit the sites of 16 past terrorism attacks and hear about how the Israel Police responds to mass casualty incident, according to organizers MK ISC, an Israeli security consultancy firm.

“With the world still shellshocked over this week’s horrific attacks in Norway, law enforcement agencies are interested in benefiting from Israel’s unfortunate experience in this arena,” MK ISC said in a press statement on Thursday.
“Program participants will be given an exclusive look at Israel’s security apparatus at major transit hubs, critical infrastructure installations, government buildings and more, as well as learning about Israeli doctrine that has proven so effective and that can be employed elsewhere,” the statement added.
“There is no substitute for seeing the effects of terror with your own eyes,” said MK ISC founder Kahlberg, a former Israel Police detective, who was involved in organizing responses to a number of terrorist attacks in Netanya.
“We bring our counterparts from overseas here to show them how we manage to secure sensitive infrastructure and personnel and prevent the vast majority of terror attacks,” Kahlberg said.
