Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday expressed hope that a war would not erupt between Israel and Iran.
Abbas's comments were made during a meeting in his office in Ramallah with a group of Jewish figures, including Michael Melchior, Rabbi Menahem Froman and Adina Bar Shalom, the daughter of Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.
The meeting was the second of its kind with Israelis in the past 48 hours.
On Sunday, Abbas met in his office with a Meretz delegation headed by MK Zehava Gal-On.
During the meeting, Abbas also expressed readiness to meet with Rabbi Ovadia Yosef to discuss peace.
Abbas stressed the importance of interfaith dialogue in achieving peace where people live in security and stability, according to a statement issued by the PA president's office.
Abbas also called on "forces of peace to form a united front against the foes of peace because we want a world without wars."
