Mofaz goes from cemetery to polling stations

Mofaz began his election day by visiting his parents’ graves in Kfar Saba.

Kadima leadership candidate Shaul Mofaz began his election day by visiting his parents’ graves in Kfar Saba. They brought him and his family to Israel from Iran when he was nine.
The visit was symbolic for Mofaz to remind himself of his roots as a poor immigrant, who rose through the ranks to become IDF chief of staff and now was competing to be Kadima’s candidate for prime minister.
Mofaz went straight from the cemetery to cast his ballot at the Kfar Saba Convention Center, where he and his wife, Orit, were greeted with applause from his supporters.
“These elections in Kadima are on the future, character and values of the State of Israel,” he said after casting his ballot. “At the end of the day, Kadima will start a new path as a real alternative to Netanyahu’s bad government.
I intend to win the general election and replace Netanyahu.”
Mofaz then toured polling stations in Beersheba, Kiryat Malachi, Kiryat Gat, Ashkelon, Sderot, Netivot, Rishon Lezion and Tel Aviv. In a conference call with MKs who supported him, Mofaz predicted victory.
“Our victory is guaranteed if we bring a significantly higher turnout to the polling stations than the national average,” he said. “It’s in our hands. Don’t let up. This is the time to vote.”
