President Shimon Peres arrived in Washington on Friday night ahead of his address to the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) policy conference. Peres will travel coast-to-coast, and will be away from Israel for close to two weeks.The president will deliver the opening address at the AIPAC conference after which he will receive a life achievement award.As part of the award ceremony, AIPAC will screen a documentary film on highlights of the president’s lifePeres will be joined on Sunday by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who is currently in Ottawa for meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and other high-ranking officials.This year's AIPAC conference will feature a number of high level speakers, including Peres and Netanyahu, US President Barack Obama, and video feeds of US Republican candidates Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich.Government sources have said that Netanyahu's speech will "break new ground" in his speech, which expected to address both Iran's nuclear program and the stymied diplomatic process with the Palestinians.Herb Kenon and Greer Fay Cashman contributed to this report.
