Schalit campaign, neighbors urge sensitivity post-release

Mitzpe Hila sympathizes with families of terror victims; Free Schalit Campaign request media, public respect privacy; Schalit tent emptied.

Gilad Schalit's impending release has triggered calls upon the public and media, to ensure that the captured IDF soldier and his family get the privacy they need. The sensitivity of the exchange has also been subject to discussion among the Mitzpe Hila community and the media.

Shimshon Liebman, head of the Campaign to Free Schalit, called for citizens and the media to respect the Schalit family's privacy during the coming days, and to allow them to be alone, Israel Radio reported on Sunday.RELATED:What Schalit needs: Peace, quiet and treatment for PTSDSchalits arrive home in Mitzpe Hila after meeting PeresLiebman reportedly added that the residents of Schalit's hometown Mitzpe Hila and members of the campaign would avoid meeting with Gilad immediately after his arrival on Tuesday.
A neighbor of the Schalits told Army Radio on Sunday that there will not be celebrations in the town upon Gilad's return. He explained that Mitzpe Hila residents understand the sensitivity and weight of the prisoner exchange.The community "shares in the pain" of bereaved family members of terror victims killed in attacks carried out by prisoners due to be released, he added.
Joining in with the chorus of voices, Channel 10 news reporter Shlomi Eldar also discussed with Army Radio the importance of the media's treatment  of Gilad's return, with regard to the peace and quiet that he will require.The High Court of Justice ruled on Sunday that it will hear a petition at noon on Monday against the release of 1,027 Palestinian prisoners involved in the exchange deal. The petition was filed by the Almagor Terror Victims Association.
