MK Ahmed Tibi (United Arab List-Ta’al) filed a complaint with Knesset security on Sunday, after receiving death threats on his Facebook wall.
“You and all the other terrorists – your day will come,” one comment read. Another person posted: “You’ll be dead soon,” and, “Tibi, you’re so ugly, you should run away before someone kills you.”

The threats were comments on a a video of Tibi posted to more than 8,000 “fans” of a speech he gave in the Knesset plenum last Tuesday. He addressed the incident in which MK Anastasia Michaeli (Israel Beiteinu) poured a cup of water on MK Ghaleb Majadle (Labor), saying that “Anastasia’s plumbing must have been broken.” (Anastasia and the Hebrew word for plumbing, “instalatzia,” rhyme.) “Unfortunately, we occasionally see threats on MK Tibi, but this time they were explicit with names behind them,” Tibi’s spokesman said, expressing hope that the police will reach those who wrote the death threats as soon as possible.
Tibi lamented an “ugly wave” of incitement against Arab lawmakers that is “washing over the land.” He added that he will not be deterred or change his political stances because of death threats.
