Top foreign ministry posts in NY, LA finally filled

Appointments committee fills two key posts in US; ambassadors to Holland, Hungary and Ghana also named

The Foreign Ministry's appointments committee filled two key posts in the US on Sunday, making Ido Aharoni the permanent consul-general in New York, and naming David Segal as the next consul-general in Los Angeles.
Aharoni was sent to New York in August as a temporary replacement for Asi Shariv. Aharoni has served in the past as spokesman at the New York consulate, spokesman to foreign minister Tzipi Livni, and the moving force behind the Israel re-branding project in the Foreign Ministry.
Segal has served as the spokesman at the embassy in Washington, and currently is a top advisor to deputy foreign minister Danny Ayalon.
In other appointments, the ministry named Haim Divon as ambassador to Holland; Ilan Mor as ambassador to Hungary; and Sharon Bar-Li as ambassador to Ghana.
The appointments must now go to the cabinet for final approval.
