'Israel's poor receive worse medical care'

The disenfranchised receive worse medical care [than the wealthy], and the chilling expression "poverty kills" is the situation that exists, Hadassah Medical Organization Director-General Prof. Shlomo Mor-Yosef warned Sunday. Speaking to Army Radio, Mor-Yosef called to save the public health care system in order to prevent harm to the weaker sectors of society. "We are in a country with a high level of medical care, but there are huge gaps in the health levels of the population. People who don't have the means get worse care," Mor-Yosef said.
