Italians are experts in pizza, pasta and design, but Israel is where the Italians come to learn about emergency medicine.
Doctors from Italy will arrive next week to learn more about how to run an emergency medical care system and cope with trauma and mass catastrophe. The Italians, in turn, will brief Israelis on dealing with natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes.
They will attend a three-day forum initiated by the Italian Embassy to mark Israel's 60th anniversary of independence at Tel Aviv's David Intercontinental Hotel between April 28 and 30. More than 30 senior scientists and physicians from Italy will participate along with their Israeli counterparts to promote industrial, scientific and technological ties between the two countries. Participants will discuss ways to prevent epidemics, vaccinate the population against chronic hepatitis and improve medical education. Some of the scientists will discuss cooperation in agriculture, physics, energy and agricultural research.
