MDA: Only four percent of Israelis donate blood

Only four percent of Israelis donate blood, while 1,000 citizens a day receive blood donations, according to statistics provided by Magen David Adom. According to MDA, three out of four donors are men; half of all donors are young people; and a quarter of all donors are soldiers. Thursday is International Blood Donor Day, which this year places special emphasis on people with rare blood types, whose need for blood donations is greater than others'.
