A seven-month-old baby from Moshav Yonatan on the Golan Heights has died of whooping cough at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, the Health Ministry announced on Sunday.
The baby had not been vaccinated because of illness after his circumcision. At home are five siblings, all vaccinated, and parents. The family was advised to take antibiotics as a prophylactic measure.
Epidemiologists are checking on 12 other children in a second group in the infant's day care center. The ministry advised parents to ensure that all babies who haven't been vaccinated against whooping cough be taken to family health centers for a shot.
