A Coast Guardsman was sentenced to a year in military prison Tuesday for posting recruitment fliers for the white supremacist group Ku Klux Klan on Cape Cod and storing unregistered weapons and explosives materials in military housing.
Petty Officer Chad Blair pleaded guilty Monday to posting the fliers last March at Barnstable Municipal Airport and the Cape Cod Mall.
He pleaded guilty to storing seven unregistered weapons, grenade parts, fuses and explosive powder at Otis Air National Guard Base. He also pleaded guilty to drunken and disorderly conduct, using a government computer to access a hate Web site while on duty, drinking on duty and lying to investigators.
Blair's attorney, William Enright, said there was no evidence Blair was planning to build a bomb to use against anyone.
