2 killed in US warehouse shooting; fired worker held captive

Two people were killed and a recently fired worker held in custody after a shooting outside a book warehouse in suburban Philadelphia Friday. Simon & Schuster spokesman Adam Rothberg said the victims were employees of the publishing company's warehouse in Bristol. Witnesses told the Bucks County Courier Times that the man taken into custody had threatened violence against co-workers in the past. Rothberg said the shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. during a shift change. The warehouse employs 125 full-time workers and is about 20 miles (30 kilometers) north of Philadelphia. He said the suspect started working at the plant in 2002 and was fired in April for absenteeism.
