2 Taliban killed while trying to strap explosives

Two suspected Taliban rebels blew themselves up Thursday while trying to strap explosives to their bodies inside a shop in southern Afghanistan, police said. The explosion took place at a market place in Waish, a town on the border with Pakistan, and no one else was hurt, said Abdul Hakim Hungar, deputy police chief of Kandahar province. "Our investigation shows that the two Taliban were preparing for a suicide attack when the explosion happened. They were killed on the spot," Hungar said. He said the owner of the shop was arrested, and the two men who died appeared to have been Afghans.
