2nd Spanish nuclear plant forced to shut down temporarily

Spain's Nuclear Safety Council said a second plant has been forced to shut down following an electrical problem but says there is no threat of a nuclear leak or environmental damage. The shutdown at the north central Santa Maria de Garona plant came a day after the Vandellos power station in northeastern Spain was shut down because of a fire. The council said the Garona plant automatically shut down at 10:25 (0825 GMT) Monday as a result of electrical work being done in an external substation that feeds the plant. Station spokesman Elias Fernandez said the plant would resume operations later in the day.
