Afghanistan, Pakistan agree to fight terrorism

Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistan's President Gen. Pervez Musharraf announced Monday that they have agreed to fight terrorism and deny sanctuary, training and financing to terrorists in each other's country. Karzai and Musharraf, who often blame each other for not doing enough to stop a resurgent Taliban, issued a joint statement following a meeting at Turkey's presidential palace. "The two presidents agreed to deny sanctuary, training and financing to terrorists and to elements involved in subversive and anti-state activities in each other's country and to initiate immediate action on specific intelligence exchanges in this regard," the leaders said. Karzai and Musharraf also reiterated their commitment to continue supporting moderation, fighting all forms of "extremism and terrorism through coordinated action."
