Interior Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said Wednesday that he had opposed the release of the Gaza flotilla activists.
Talking to Channel 2 news Aharonovitch said "The decision to release the flotilla activists was against my judgment."
The decision to release the activists was taken by Prime Minister Netanyahu on Tuesday and supported by Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein who wrote a deportation order saying that "keeping them here would do more damage to the country's vital interests than good."
A number of groups protested the release.
Although a few wounded activists remain in hospital,  all others were released from prison and deported through Ben Gurion over the course of Wednesday
