Annan promises help on kidnapped soldiers

Outgoing UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said Wednesday that he would continue to work on the problem of Israel's kidnapped soldiers, even after his term expires at the end of December. According to Israel Radio, Annan spoke following a meeting with former foreign minister Silvan Shalom. Last week, Vice Premier Shimon Peres met with Annan's successor, Ban Ki-Moon, in New York and asked him to obtain a "sign of life" from kidnapped reservists Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev.
