Suspected Kurdish rebels in southeastern Turkey detonated multiple explosives as military vehicles passed, killing three soldiers and wounding 14 more, the local governor's office said Wednesday.
The first charge went off as the lead vehicle passed, throwing soldiers to the ground, the statement said. A second blast was then detonated behind the first, causing further damage.
The governor's office said the charges were detonated by remote control.
The deaths and injuries occurred Tuesday in Sirnak province bordering Iraq, where on the same day soldiers killed five Kurdish rebels in a clash.
The rebels have been fighting for autonomy in predominantly Kurdish southeastern Turkey since 1984. The fighting has killed at least 37,000 people.
