Bus crash in Venezuela kills 17, injures 20

Two buses crashed in western Venezuela on Friday, killing at least 17 people and injuring 20. Venezuela's Civil Protection chief, Col. Antonio Rivero, told The Associated Press by phone that the accident took place on a highway linking Zulia and Lara states on Friday evening. Rivero said the death toll could climb because the accident caused a fire and victims might be found in the remains of the vehicles. He said there were indications the accident was caused by "excessive velocity," combined with heavy rains.
