Militants opened fired on a police car in Russia's war-scarred province of Chechnya, injuring one officer, officials said Tuesday.
The incident took place Monday outside the Chechen capital Grozny, the regional Interior Ministry said in a statement. The suspects escaped and a manhunt has been launched, the statement said.
Russian forces have fought two wars against separatist rebels in Chechnya over the past dozen years. Large-scale fighting has all but ended, but rebels continue to fight Russian servicemen and forces from the Moscow-backed government.
