Chertoff to NAACP: Respect Muslim American rights

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said it is particularly important to respect the civil rights of Muslim Americans as US troops continue to fight terrorism in the Middle East. Making Muslims feel fully included in the work and spirit of America is part of making America a better place, and improving US military effectiveness, Chertoff said in an address at the 98th annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He appeared at the group's Armed Services/Veterans Affairs dinner. Chertoff praised the past and current work of black men and women in all branches of the US military.
