Chile: US monitors report 6.7 magnitude quake

A strong earthquake shook northern Chile early Sunday morning, in the same region where a temblor killed at least two people last month, the US Geological Survey reported. It said the 6.7-magnitude quake at 5:09 a.m. (0809 GMT) was centered 130 kilometers (80 miles) north-northeast of Antofagasta and 1,219 kilometers (757 miles) north of the capital, Santiago. A day earlier a moderate earthquake had rattled central Chile, causing alarm but no reported victims or damage.
