Chinese state media says death toll from earthquake rises to 107

At least 107 people are dead after a strong earthquake struck China on Monday. Xinhua News Agency says another 34 people were confirmed hurt in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck 92 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital of Chengdu at 2:28 p.m.. Earlier reports say 900 schoolchildren were feared buried but did not say whether they were thought to be alive.
