Denmark supports referring Iran to the UNSC

Denmark backs referring Iran to the UN Security Council to apply international pressure on Tehran over its nuclear program, Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said Tuesday. "[The} time has come to get the UN Security Council involved in this case," Fogh Rasmussen told reporters. "It is important that we put the greatest possible international pressure on Iran." Last week, Britain, France and Germany, backed by Washington, called for Iran to be referred to the Security Council, following Iran's decision to resume research on nuclear fuel. Denmark, which holds a non-permanent seat on the Security Council, is "co-responsible that maximum pressure is put on Iran," Fogh Rasmussen said at his weekly news conference. He said it was important for Denmark "that a diplomatic solution is found."
