English professor boycotts Israeli publication

Professor Richard Seaford from the University of Exeter in England refused to write a review for an academic journal published in Israel, saying that he was participating in an academic boycott of Israel. In a letter to Dr. Daniella Dueck, the Bar Ilan lecturer who had invited him to write the article for Scripta Classica Israelica, Seaford cited Israel's "slow-motion ethnic cleansing" and "brutal and illegal expansionism" as the reasons for his personal boycott of Israeli academics. Next weekend, the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education (NATFHE) in Britain will vote on a motion that will allow members of the union to exercise a personal boycott of Israeli academics at their discretion.
