EU condemns attacks on embassies by Muslims

Austria's EU presidency condemned the wave of attacks targeting European embassies in Syria and the Palestinian territories to avenge the publication of drawings of the Prophet Muhammad. In a statement issued late Saturday, the EU presidency said it "condemns the wave of attacks and threats against European citizens and property," which included attacks against EU offices in the Palestinian Territories and the torching of the Danish, Swedish and Norwegian embassies in Damascus. "Such acts can by no means be legitimized and are utterly unacceptable," the presidency said, demanding "that all authorities concerned take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of European citizens and property."
