The EU's Court of Justice has overturned a 2001 EU decision to implement a UN anti-terror order to freeze the assets of a Saudi businessman and a Sweden-based charity suspected of funding al-Qaida terror groups.
The EU high court decision issued Wednesday in Luxembourg calls into question international efforts to fight terror groups, notably al-Qaida.
The ruling overturns a 2005 EU court decision that rejected an appeal by Yasin Al-Qadi and the Swedish-based charity Al-Barakaat International Foundation to unfreeze their assets.
