Fewer dead in Pakistan ferry accident than thought

Navy divers on Saturday resumed a search for 20 people still missing from a ferry that capsized in the Arabian Sea a day earlier, as officials sharply revised downward the number of fatalities from 60 to 15. The aging boat was carrying more than 50 people when it sank on Friday near Kharo Chao, a coastal town about 180 kilometers southeast of the port city of Karachi. Rescuers pulled out 15 bodies late Friday, while 17 survivors swam to safety, Pakistan navy spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Salman Ali said. The search was called off at nightfall and resumed early Saturday, he said.
