France could send 'hundreds' more troops to Afghanistan

France's prime minister says his country could contribute several hundred more troops for Afghanistan. Francois Fillon has told parliament that NATO and its allies must prevent Afghanistan from again becoming a hub of international terrorism. France is expected to announce the details of a stepped-up deployment for Afghanistan at a NATO summit this week in Romania. French President Nicolas Sarkozy has said France would increase its participation beyond its 2,200 troops in the region, without specifying how many or where they would be deployed.
