Freighter capsizes off Denmark, leaving 1 dead, 7 missing

Rescuers were searching Sunday for seven Turkish seamen believed trapped inside a freighter that capsized off Denmark's coast, killing at least one crew member, the Danish navy said. Three of the 11 crew members aboard the Slovakian-registered "Omer N" were rescued by a Russian ship in the area, which alerted authorities. The ship capsized in the waters between Germany and Denmark, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) west of the Danish island of Falster, authorities said. Rescue helicopters from Denmark and Germany searched the area for several hours late Sunday. One member of the all-Turkish crew was found dead, but there was no sign of the other seven, leading officials to believe they were trapped inside the ship.
