French police defuse 3 explosive devices

Bomb squads have defused three explosive devices planted at tourist sites in France's southwest Basque country, French officials said Friday. The prefecture in the Pyrenees Atlantiques region said the discoveries followed an anonymous phone call in the early hours Friday. The prefecture said experts defused one device at a vacation village in Arcangues and another on a train line in the town of Ondres. Bomb squads were still working on a device found at Arcangues' tourism office. About 1,200 people were evacuated from various tourist sites in the region following the phone call. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
