An exclusive hotel in Germany that will host next year's Group of Eight summit was daubed with paint in an apparent protest by anti-globalization activists, police said Thursday.
The white facade of the Kempinski Grand Hotel in Heiligendamm, on the Baltic Sea coast, was smeared with red and black paint during the night, police in nearby Rostock said.
Anti-globalization activists claimed responsibility in a letter, police said.
The G-8's annual summits have for years drawn protesters. They say that the capitalist and trade policies of the eight - all world economic giants - are to blame for third-world poverty, global warming and other problems.
