Yemeni police have freed a German national arrested along with seven other foreigners in October for alleged links to the al-Qaeda terrorist network and for attempts to smuggle weapons to Somalia, a police source said on Saturday.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the man was handed over to two German diplomats late on Thursday.
"He was released after investigations by security interrogators established that the man was not involved in the weapons smuggling activities," the source told Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
The source would not provide further details, and German embassy officials in Sana'a refused to comment.
