Guantanamo suicide victim arrives in Saudi Arabia

The body of a Saudi detainee who died Wednesday at Guantanamo Bay prison in an apparent suicide arrived in the Saudi capital Monday, according to the Interior Ministry. The ministry's statement said the body of Abdul Rahman Maadha al-Amry was taken to a hospital in Riyadh for medical examination and to be identified by his relatives. US authorities have labeled al-Amry's death an "apparent suicide," but have not revealed how al-Amry killed himself. His suicide would be the fourth at the detention center since it opened in 2002. On June 10, 2006, two Saudi detainees and one Yemeni hanged themselves with sheets. The US holds some 380 men in the Guantanamo Bay prison on suspicion of links to al-Qaida or the Taliban.
