A Greek industrialist was kidnapped by three gunmen outside his home in the northern city of Thessaloniki late Monday, police said.
Giorgos Mylonas, 49, the head of the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece, was abducted shortly before midnight local time (2100GMT). The kidnappers' motives were not immediately clear.
Police said three hooded gunmen stopped Mylonas as he drove up outside his home with his wife. The gunmen forced Mylonas' wife out of the car and drove off. The vehicle was found abandoned shortly later about two kilometers away, police said.
Interior Minister Procopis Pavlopoulos chaired an emergency meeting on the kidnapping early Tuesday with Greece's chief of police and senior officers, while the anti-terrorist squad was alerted.
