Helicopter crashes into Hudson River off NYC

A helicopter crashed into the Hudson River between New York City and New Jersey on Saturday, and eight people were rescued, police said. No deaths or major injuries were reported, police said. Witnesses reported seeing the helicopter, which had pontoons for floating on water, go straight down into the river. Eight people, including the pilot, were rescued by two vessels, authorities said. The helicopter was being recovered, the Coast Guard said. Officials said it was not privately contracted or a military helicopter, and it was not immediately clear whether it was on a sightseeing tour.
