Int'l panel on nuclear terrorism meets in Turkey

The world's five leading nuclear powers - the United States, Russia, China, Britain and France - and eight other nations opened a two-day meeting Monday in Ankara, an international effort aimed at preventing terrorists from acquiring nuclear weapons. The meeting comes amid heightened global concern over nuclear programs in North Korea and Iran. The five nations form the core of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism, which aims to provide guidelines for keeping track of radioactive materials, ensuring the safety of nuclear facilities, and combating illicit trafficking that could put nuclear materials into the hands of terrorists.
