Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki called Monday for an end to violent protests over cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad which have swept the Muslim world after the caricatures were published in several European newspapers.
"We should try to cool down the situation. We do not support any violence," said Mottaki.
He declared that freedom of expression must be exercised with sensitivity and that values and beliefs should be fully respected.
