Iraqi finance minister: Iraq and Jordan strengthen oil deal

Iraq's Finance Minister Bayan Jabr said his country has further consolidated a deal to provide Jordan with 40,000 barrels of badly needed oil daily, following talks with officials in the capital city Monday.
The first shipment of Iraqi crude oil - the equivalent of eight tanker trucks - arrived in Jordan last September after a four-year hiatus following the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq. Jordan's energy ministry said at the time it was the first batch of an expected 166 tankers.
"Sixty-percent of the initial oil shipments have already been made," Jabr told reporters after meetings with King Abdullah II and Jordan's Prime Minister Nader al-Dahabi. "We are in the process of finding a new mechanism of delivering the remaining 40 percent."
